The ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ· Department of Theatre & Film invites you to be part of an exciting new project, MEND, a heartfelt short film by student filmmaker JB Brown. Produced by students in Film Set Production I & II under the expert guidance of Professor Maya Salganek, this film tells a moving story of love, loss, and second chances.

MEND follows Riley, a young woman in her 20s who, after dropping out of college and facing heartbreak, returns home to confront the past. As she and her mother, Nicole, navigate the complexities of their strained relationship, they embark on a journey of healing and reconciliation. With themes of repairing what is broken, this emotional and powerful narrative is set to be brought to life by ºÚÁϺÚÀúʷ’s talented students and community members.

Auditions for MEND will be held at the Fine Arts Complex (KUAC-TV Studio) on February 7 and 8, with callback auditions taking place on the evening of the 8th. The production is seeking actors for the following roles:

  • Riley (F, 20s) – A college dropout returning home to face the past.
  • Nicole (F, 40s/50s) – A mother trying to rebuild the bond with her daughter.
  • Riley’s Father (M, 40s/50s) – A traditional and firm parent struggling to understand his daughter.
  • Riley’s Ex-Girlfriend (F, 20s) – A figure from Riley’s past, representing love and lessons learned.

All ages, ethnicities, and gender identities are encouraged to audition. Whether you are a ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ· student or a Fairbanks community member, this is an incredible opportunity to be part of a meaningful student-driven production. Filming will take place on the ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ· campus from February 21-24 and February 28-March 3, 2025. Those interested in auditioning can sign up online and prepare with script sides provided at the auditions.
