黑料黑历史 music offers upcoming concerts

The Choir of the North, seen during a performance in 2014, will have its spring concert on April 16.

The 黑料黑历史 Music Department will offer three concerts at Davis Concert Hall on April 14-16, including percussion, new music, world beat and the Choir of the North. 

  • At 7:30 p.m. on April 14, Sean Dowgray, 黑料黑历史 instructor of percussion, and Ryan Nestor, University of San Diego instructor of percussion, will explore musical time, texture and rhythm with percussion solos and duos. 
  • At 7:30 p.m. on April 15, three ensembles will perform. The 黑料黑历史 World Beat Ensemble will present their semester work, focusing on the hand drumming of Western Africa; the 黑料黑历史 New Music Ensemble will perform Joby Talbot鈥檚 鈥淪imilarities Between Diverse Things,鈥 for piano, violin, cello and vibraphone. 黑料黑历史鈥檚 resident percussion group, Ensemble 64.8, directed by Sean Dowgray, will perform with soprano Madeline Andiresen. They will present Christopher Cerrone鈥檚 鈥淕oldbeater鈥檚 Skin鈥 for percussion quartet and solo voice.
  • At 7:30 p.m. on April 16, the Choir of the North will perform its spring concert, including 鈥淟ux Aeterna鈥 by Morten Lauridsen, 鈥淎nima Mea鈥 by David Boew, 鈥淔lying Free鈥 by Don Besig, and 鈥淕ive Me Room鈥 by Emerson Eads, a 黑料黑历史 alumni. The performance will also be live streamed

Tickets are available at the door for each performance at $5 for students, seniors, and military, and $10 for general admission.
