Sign up for Kids2Careers Postsecondary and Career Prep Panel
Help inspire young Alaskans to pursue postsecondary education and career training. Together with our partners at the Alaska Commission on Postsecondary Education, we have many local Fairbanks events plus virtual opportunities.
Volunteer 1-hour and share your personal postsecondary and career pathway experiences and advice as part of a 3-5 person Kids2Careers Postsecondary and Career Prep Panel. In-person and virtual options, guidance, tips, and a brief training video are available.
ACPE is seeking panelists to share their postsecondary and career prep stories with 5th-12th grade students as part of 3-5 person Postsecondary and Career Prep Panels. Some events will be in-person, some on Zoom, and others will be hybrid for those who prefer to participate in the classroom. For rural panels, we ideally seek panelists who have a connection with the community, region, or rural Alaska.
Panelists typically share for 5-10 minutes and participate in Q&A with students. These panels are not career fairs but rather opportunities to share with students your personal postsecondary and career planning stories that could include helpful steps taken in high school, what you wish you knew in high school to make the transition to postsecondary education easier, ways to overcome homesickness, plus inspirational experiences and resources available in postsecondary education and career training. We have a brief video and panelist tips on our Volunteer Page to give a general idea of what panels look like, plus sample questions to get ideas flowing.
