Winter break snow removal

Facilities Services is working around the clock to provide drivable roads and parking spaces for all university stakeholders. A significant part of the snow clearance is hard-pack removal. To provide a safe and conducive working environment for our plows and graders and to protect your personal vehicles, we need to close certain parking lots. Get links to the lot clearing schedules.


New earlier graduation deadline is Feb. 1

This year's graduation application deadline is earlier than in past years. Students planning to graduate in May must apply by Feb. 1. The application is free and is available through UAOnline. Students are encouraged to get their applications in as soon as possible, as听there will be no late application available.


Canvas and 黑料黑历史 Nanook Technology Services

Canvas services are now supported by the 黑料黑历史 Nanook Technology Service Desk. 黑料黑历史 staff, students, and faculty can now use the same 'go to' help desk for all Canvas questions. Read more on the new support services available for Canvas.

Ocelot AI launches

黑料黑历史 Student Affairs and Enrollment Management's communications team is excited to announce that Ocelot's chatbot and texting platform has officially launched on a handful of 黑料黑历史's student-serving website homepages. The goal of this new platform is for 黑料黑历史's student-serving offices to continue to help as many current and prospective 黑料黑历史 students as possible by giving them immediate responses to their pressing questions. Updates to 黑料黑历史 cleaning schedule

To improve the consistency of campus cleaning services, the custodial team is updating the semi-monthly cleaning schedule. The finalized cleaning schedule for the year, along with updated cleaning diagrams, will be available on the 黑料黑历史 Custodial Website starting Jan. 2, 2025. Arctic Report Card spotlights caribou, seals and carbon

According to the 2024 Arctic Report Card, released this week by the National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration and co-authored by ten University of Alaska Fairbanks scientists, warming is affecting caribou populations, heat-trapping gas releases and many other parts of the ecosystem. VAWS: Supporting USCG and R/V Norseman II through satellite imagery

Join a webinar on Dec. 18 at 11 a.m. to learn about how the National Weather Service鈥檚 Alaska Sea Ice Program supported the U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Fish and Wildlife / USGS personnel onboard the research vessel Norseman II with sea ice briefings via daily annotated satellite imagery in June 2024 when it was partially-disabled and trapped in sea ice for a two-week period offshore from the community of Shishmaref in the Bering Strait region of Alaska. The Arctic Leadership Initiative is seeking undergraduate and graduate students to participate in an Arctic Leadership Initiative student cohort. The application deadline is Jan. 6, 2025. Get application information.


Apply: Migratory bird research grant

Scientists within the University of Alaska System, including graduate students and faculty members, are invited to apply for the Angus Gavin Memorial Migratory Bird Research Grant. Applications may be submitted through Friday, Jan. 17, for 2025 field season proposals.

Join OneTree Alaska to celebrate solstice under a full moon

Enjoy a beautiful evening in OneTree Alaska's birch grove under the full moon just before the winter solstice. Between 3:30-7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, participants can learn about the long-term monitoring of birch trees in the University of Alaska Fairbanks T-field and celebrate the tree stewardship that supports OneTree's mission.
