National Pollinator Week is June 19-25, and Georgeson Botanical Garden is highlighting its exhibits explaining what these beneficial insects and animals do.

黑料黑历史 PolarExpress card design contest poll

Thank you to everyone who participated in the 黑料黑历史 PolarExpress design competition. We received 45 excellent submissions, and it is genuinely humbling to glimpse the immense artistic talent of our 黑料黑历史 community. After a difficult selection process, the pre-selected judging panel whittled the submissions down to 10 finalists. The Office of the Bursar will announce the new design and grand prize winner on July 1.

Tour signGeophysical Institute, Poker Flat offer free summer tours

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Geophysical Institute is offering free public family-friendly tours from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Two different guided tours are available. One consists of a visit to several science groups in the Geophysical Institute home base in the Elvey Building on 黑料黑历史鈥檚 Troth Yeddha鈥� Campus. The other is a visit to Poker Flat Research Range at Mile 30 Steese Highway. Addiional tour details are available here.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program fall workshop info session

黑料黑历史 is hosting an information session July 18 from 2-3 p.m. about an upcoming fall workshop series that will provide support for students applying to the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program. The workshop is open to 黑料黑历史-affiliated undergraduate seniors and graduate students in their first or second year.听

A scientific team led by University of Alaska Fairbanks researchers has discovered the earliest-known evidence of freshwater fishing by ancient people in the Americas. The research offers a glimpse at how early humans used a changing landscape and could offer insight for modern people facing similar changes.
