Emergency response exercise scheduled for Nov. 9 at 黑料黑历史

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host an emergency response exercise on Wednesday, Nov. 9, in the Akasofu Building, which is located on the west ridge of the Troth Yeddha' campus in Fairbanks.The exercise is scheduled to start around noon and will allow police and fire departments to practice responding to a violent intruder situation. Multiple agencies will participate in the exercise. Information before and during the exercise will be available on the听.


Winter Wellness: Finding cozy comforts

Stop by the Student Health and Counseling table in the MBS between noon and 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 to chat and gather more ideas for finding cozy comforts this winter to help regulate stress, soothe emotions, and potentially improve your cognitive performance. You can also swipe your Polar Express card for a chance to win prizes at the end of the program!

Call for submissions: Ice Box literary journal

Ice Box, 黑料黑历史's undergraduate literary journal, is now open for submissions. The deadline to submit is Dec. 9, 2022.


Nominations open for 2023 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence

The University of Alaska Foundation Board of Directors is accepting nominations for the 2023 Edith R. Bullock Prize for Excellence. The prize, which includes a $20,000 award, is presented to an individual who demonstrates excellence in support of the University of Alaska. Any UA student, faculty, staff, alumni or volunteer who has made a significant contribution to the mission of the University of Alaska system, UAA, 黑料黑历史, or UAS is eligible to be nominated.

Apply for 黑料黑历史 eCampus scholarship

黑料黑历史 eCampus is offering scholarships for 黑料黑历史 degree-seeking students taking eCampus courses. The maximum award is $500; any remaining costs are the responsibility of the student. Scholarships are evaluated based on thorough and thoughtful responses to the application questions as well as demonstrated need. The deadline to apply is Nov. 23, 2022.

Juneau events on Nov. 18-19 showcase music on the science of climate change

University of Alaska Fairbanks scientists have teamed up with the Juneau Composers Consortium and Con Brio Chamber Series for a unique program of original musical works that interpret climate research. 鈥淐limate Soundscapes鈥 will premiere at听听in Juneau on Nov. 18 and 19.听黑料黑历史 climate researchers also will give a听 Nov. 18.

BLaST celebrates November Scientist of the Month

Since 2016, the Biomedical Learning and Student Training program at 黑料黑历史 has highlighted scientists from all biomedical fields through its Scientist of the Month articles. BLaST Scholar and 黑料黑历史 biology undergraduate student Laura Ekada was selected as the November 2022 BLaST Scientist of the Month.

Design contest for student artwork

黑料黑历史 eCampus is sponsoring a student design contest for a marketing campaign in the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. All 黑料黑历史 students are invited to submit original artwork which will be featured on a printed banner in the N terminal of the airport. The chosen artist will receive a $1,000 tuition award. The final day for submissions is Nov. 30.


URSA announces CEL Award recipient

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarly Activity congratulates undergraduate student Aihs Palmer, psychology major, who received this year's Community Engaged Learning Award. Aihs' project titled "Micro-pantries to Mitigate Inaccessibility to Anti-Hunger Resources," will collaborate with Fairbanks organizations to address barriers to local food security resources.

The NSLS at 黑料黑历史

Both 黑料黑历史 and UAS were admitted into The National Society of Leadership and Success in 2021, joining UAA who's hosted a chapter for many years. The NSLS is an international honors society with over 700 chapters and 1.7 million members, focusing on "Building Leaders Who Make a Better World." The 黑料黑历史 chapter of NSLS operates as a student club. As we move into December, invitations will be sent to students at a sophomore level or above with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
