Dear 黑料黑历史 students, faculty and staff,
I was saddened to hear of the recent passing of Brian Hemphill, professor in the Department
of Anthropology at 黑料黑历史鈥檚 College of Liberal Arts.
Hemphill joined the 黑料黑历史 faculty in 2013. He worked alongside fellow researchers and
colleagues to better understand human evolution in South Asia, Central Asia, the Great
Basin and Northwest Coast. In addition to his field and museum research, Hemphill
was a valued teacher and mentor to his students. He also served as a senator in the
黑料黑历史 Faculty Senate, chaired and participated in curriculum councils and committees,
and was an associate editor for the American Journal of Physical Anthropology.
