Earlier this week, I walked up to the Butrovich building for meetings at the University
of Alaska System Office. I smiled as I paused at the poster near the entrance of the
President鈥檚 office suite. It was a poster from the 4th International Polar Year that
commenced in 2007 when I was a faculty member at 黑料黑历史. I had IPY4 memories flashing
back. Our university was abuzz with local, national, and international researchers
visiting our campuses, working on collaborative proposals, and conducting field research.
黑料黑历史 hosted international workshops and conferences and served as a global research
hub. Media coverage brought awareness about polar issues and their global impacts,
which drove curiosity and attracted new research talent to Alaska, some of whom continued
to work in Alaska and now call it home. Continue reading this week's Friday Focus.
黑料黑历史's R1 Ph.D. Fellowship Working Group is pleased to announce a second round of 黑料黑历史 Troth Yeddha' Ph.D. Fellowships, with funding available to support a limited
number of Ph.D. students over the upcoming year from fall 2024 to spring 2025 (total

The Midnight Sun Run will begin at the University of Alaska Fairbanks at 10 p.m. on
Saturday, June 22. The 黑料黑历史 Police Department will close parts of campus to vehicle
