Friday Focus: Putting the energy and power into ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ·'s fourth goal

We learned from Maslow’s hierarchy of needs that making goals can be difficult. However, we learn every day that working toward those goals through the daily grind is the real challenge. To remain focused and determined through setbacks and disappointments it takes more than just a strong belief in the goal – it takes a champion.


Join your colleagues and dig in for ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ· Flower Planting Day on June 8 from 9 a.m. to noon. Volunteers whoÌýÌýin advance, and check in, will receive a t-shirt and be entered into a drawing to win one of two hanging flower baskets. Garden trowels, plastic gloves and refreshments will be provided.

ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ· steel bridge team takes second in national finals competition

A team from the University of Alaska Fairbanks took second place in the 2022 Student Steel Bridge Competition finals, the best showing for ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ· in more than a quarter century. ºÚÁϺÚÀúʷ’s team has regularly qualified for the national finals, which were held this year May 27-28 at Virginia Tech University.

UA Board of Regents unanimously approves Troth Yeddha' project

The University of Alaska Board of Regents on Friday unanimously voted for formal project approval for the Troth Yeddha' Indigenous Studies Center and Park. The regents’ approval of the $40 million project, which is slated for construction on the University of Alaska Fairbanks Troth Yeddha’ Campus in Fairbanks, means ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ· can proceed with fundraising and schematic design.


A muskox calf at ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ·'s Large Animal Research Station

Join ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ·'s Large Animal Research Station for its Annual Birthday Bash from noon-4 p.m. on June 4.ÌýThe free event is open to everyone and gives the Fairbanks community an opportunity to meet new muskox and reindeer calves. There will be children's activities, free cookies and plenty of animals. A shuttle will run from ºÚÁϺÚÀúÊ·'s Taku Parking Lot to LARS during the event. Visitors are encouraged to utilize it since parking is limited at LARS.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Alumni Association will hold its annual reunion weekend from July 21-23 in Fairbanks, which begins at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
