Pesticide training
scheduled in Anchorage

A training for certified pesticide applicators will be offered March 10 at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Participants will receive continuing education units from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation.

tiny ocean organisms

William Burt was pleased. As the research vessel Oceanus sailed away from Seward in July of 2016, his equipment began detecting just the sort of phytoplankton he expected to be floating around the surface of the northern Gulf of Alaska. Suddenly, as evening fell, the readings showed enormous spikes, as if the sensors were completely saturated. 鈥淚 thought they were broken,鈥 he said.
